Top 10 Ways to survive the Winter

A Business Plan for Winter

As realtors, we all depend on our health and attitude for our income. Put your mental and physical health first,

especially this time of year...

1. Stay with the daylight. By December 21st, there is only 8 hours of it, so take advantage of what you have. Go to bed at 10 and get up no later than 7. Get plenty of rest. If you get a sunny day, find a place in your home to bask in it and sit for 30 minutes. Quiet time in the morning.

2. Get a least 1/2 hour of exercise a week, ideally 1/2 hour 4-5 times a week. It resets your metabolism to keep winter weight off and increase serotonin levels in your brain to combat the “blahs.” Donʼt make a big deal of it, just go for a walk.

3. Go to the library and get a book, read something uplifting.

4. Work on a project, develop a new skill and learn something new. Learning is earning, make it pay. Education is motivation. Virtual tours, databasing, google docs, business planning.

5. Get out of the house. Plugin, go to a meeting, any meeting, look for the home one good idea you can take away. You will find it. But donʼt drive when it is snowing, go the next day, when the roads are clear.

6. Take protein and multivitamins

7. Use hand sanitizer and get a flu shot, delay meetings with clients that have a cold or flu

8. If you do get sick, take natural remedies. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine. If you have trouble with winter depression, consider Saint Johnʼs Wort or SAMes.

9. Get some work done. A lot of agents take December off. Big Mistake. If someone says, “call me after the holidays,” what they are really saying is, “you will get your check in the spring or summer.” And you made the contact. Great stuff. Use November and December to reconnect with friends, ambassadors, and fun people.

10. Walk-in a snowstorm, grab a kid and go sledding, have some hot chocolate, watch a ballgame, stay warm and remember...

“Nothing lasts forever, even winter!”
